In the past this was a very hard question for me to answer. What was the benefit for my speaking? It came together through testing my material and talking to potential clients about their problems and what they wanted solved and marrying my content with a solution to their problem. Easy to say, not so easy to do, but the process is enlightening.
The purpose of my speeches are to help people who are transitioning from one stage of life to another. (Ex. Divorce, military service, etc.) I currently volunteer to speak to women going through menopause and individuals (and their families) transitioning from prison to the community.
I came to this point when I began to search out my passion in helping people. This is where my experience and gifts led me. Now I’m looking on how to market this to other venues.

It resonates a lot with what i believe in as a speaker. For me, profits come second. The most important things should be to give a benefit that the audience will use to meet their needs and wants.
That’s when they will pay for what you have to say.
Getting paid is a result of that.
Don’t get me wrong, we should think about how to make a living out of our career as speakers, but it would be easier if we answer the PURPOSE of why we’re doing this.

I now have found out, wenn I am an expert in some areas and I can tell stories that lift up people to understand my solutions and apply them, I can ask them for pay. Another question is how valuable is my solution to others.

I think another purpose for speaking to many people is so that you can have influence towards these people.
Of course, integrity is crucial to a speaker’s career because when used for bad things, influence can be really divisive, but when used for the good, it can change many lives for the better.
That’s why I believe that leadership speakers are really needed in our time today.
I hope to become a great leadership speaker so that more people will be led to have great lives and achieve great success in life.
