The life of a professional speaker is constantly changing. Our corporate clients are hoarding cash, reinventing themselves and doing their best to operate in a chaotic, unpredictable business environment. In order for us to thrive in this new climate, we need to be flexible and full of ideas. Watch this short video I taped during my media book tour in NYC and I’ll look forward to your comments.

What perfect examples of the need to be flexible. When I was speaking at universities in Uganda, I was asked to change my topic or even the audience 20 minutes prior to going on stage……..the people in charge were so laid back and would start the program when they got around to it and it often cut my speaking time 15 or 20 minutes! I quickly learned to smile and say ” I will be happy to make this work!” What a delightful group of people and I was the one who learned quickly to adapt to their customs.

Being flexible is key. In the last 15 years everything has been thrown at me from flooded facilities, to injuries to presenters, and racing between airports to catch flights. If you’re not flexible and able to cope with things going sideways you’re going to be stressed and really sell yourself short in the long run by not being able to work with the buyer.
Hi there, I totally agree that being flexible is crucial especially when you are dealing with live events such as team building, product launches, training or such whereby there is no way for you to have a pre-run for it. Therefore, if last minute changes to be made or glitches to happen on that event day, flexibility has to kick in or else all the preparation done before this will go down the drain and worse case of all, you and your company’s reputation will be on stake. Thanks for sharing once again!
